Problems encountered and Editing pictures....

I had a slight disaster today, after taking photographs of two white female dancers (so i have a choice) doing both hip hop and ballet styles I had a clash of booking for the dance studio which meant i could not photograph my white male dancer.

Then a day later my black female dancer was unable to do the photoshoot as she is extremely bust, which seems to be the same for everyone. I have realised that I may need to change the amount of people i have used, but still use the same ideas in relating the piece to race, gender and sexuality.

All of my dancers are heterosexual, which just by looking at them, you can not tell either way. they are just people doing dance. This makes a statement about the ongoing assumption that (in particular male) dancers are homosexual, especially if they perform Latin American or ballet styles of dance.

I have used Anton in juxtaposition to my two female dancers because of his race and gender. the fact that i have used two different females can be seen to convey a different message to if i had used "equal" amounts of female to male dancers. Anton performed a beautiful slow classical based routine for me in which i directed him and gave him suggestions and directed him for spacing to ensure my piece would work when uploaded for stop motion (for example having the background the same and lighting as similar as possible). Admittedly I found this difficulat having not done this type of project before or needed my photographs to be so simliar. I also found that ocassionally Icould not use the sports mode on the camera because of the choice of environment and therefore had to use a normal "point and shoot" digital canon camera, which at times did make the sequence slightly jumpy and irregular and need to be taken again.

These problems were possible to compensate for, but I now realise that because i had to re-shoot a lot of the sequence i will now have to manually sort the pictures into the correct order so it flows well...

Below are examples of my original photographs and then further down images that i have begun to manipulate in Photoshop.

Using the cloning tools, lightening and darkening elements of the photographs and then re-sizing the images so that the resolution and size of the document are all the same which will make importing to flas easier and then transfur to Adobe elements later.
